This year's Show was called 'Like a Rainbow' The theme of the performance was colours and all of the musical choices have either a colour in the song title or the artist's name. Chosing 26 pieces of music, with this criteria proved tricky but the children were a great help and had lots of interesting suggestions.
The School was very proud to be performing once again at The Garrick Playhouse on Barrington Road in Altrincham. The Theatre is a beautiful venue and we were very excited to be holding our Show there in the Theatre's centenary year.
The dates for the performances were Friday 25th October 7pm and Saturday 26th October 12noon and 7pm.
Our School aim is create a professional performance. A big part of this is the costumes. There were be over 400 costumes in the Show varying from black and white long lyrical tutus for the Grade 5 Ballet class to grey elephant costumes for the Pre Primary Tap class, from bright blue 1 shoulder unitards for the Junior Modern class to red tutus for the Introductory Ballet class.
All pupils of the School were invited to take part in the Show from the 3 year olds in the Introductory Ballet class up to the ladies in the Adult Tap class.
A DVD is of the Show is available for purchase. The cost is £15.50 per copy. Please contact Miss Clare if you would like to buy one.
Thank you from Miss Clare
Thank you to you all for your support during the preparation and presentation of 'Like a Rainbow' especially those who helped out backstage.
Thank you for the cards, flowers and gifts. Your kindness is overwhelming!
I am sure you will agree that the students all worked very hard and put on a fantastic show - I am very proud of them all. I have received many messages and emails complimenting the School on how professional the Show was and how well all of the children performed.
The childrens' behavior backstage at the rehearsals and during the performances was excellent. A performance of that standard would not have been possible without a huge amount of team work, organisation, support and dedication.
Congratulations to all the performers!
Only 2 1/2 years until our next Show where the theme will be music from films - all suggestions welcome!
Show Review by Emily (Grade 2)
I loved having the speakers in the dressing room so that we could here the music, and I also loved how there was a list on the door to say who was next onto the stage. It was really nice of you to give us some make up so that we didn't have to bring our own. It was better this year because you could only see the people who were on the first 6 or 7 rows because at the back it just looked pitch black.
My favourite dance was Scarlet Ribbons because of the lovely dress but I liked the sailor with the navy blue eyes too.
I can't wait for the next show in 2016 when I want to be a minion in Despicable me!
My best friend and her mum with my mum came to watch me and they can't wait to see the DVD so that they can see me and my mum. The only thing that I wasn't very keen on was that the dressing rooms were so hot and my dressing room was so full. But that doesn't matter because I had a great time, so thank you for everything.
Lots Of Love from
